I want to go to a house party on a Friday Night and I want them to play “This is How We Do It” so I can sing “This is how we do it, it’s Friday night, and I feel alright, the party is here on the west side!“ and get BUCK!

I’m trying out for this all male acapella singing group called “Brothas from Otha Mothas” tomorrow and we have to sing 30 seconds of any non-classical song acapella. Anyway, I’m singing a few notes and playing around with some stuff and it’s so hard to get back into serious singing after months of not really singing. AGH, I’m kinda rough but I’m pushin’ through and trying to get back into this singing grind. The audition is tomorrow at 8 p.m. so wish me luck you guys!

I just watched “Oprah’s Next Chapter: Rihanna”

It was a special/interview with Rihanna. I always love watching stuff like this about celebrities because you always find out how real they are. The interview took place at her home in Barbados, which is a beautiful place btw. But Rihanna was just so raw. I loved seeing a side of her that you never really get to see. She talked about what life was like for her in Barbados, how she left when she was 16 to follow her dream, the Chris Brown incident, her family, who she really is, and a bunch of other awesome stuff. I’ve always kind of liked Rihanna’s music, especially her first 3 albums: Music of the Sun, A Girl Like Me, & Good Girl Gone Bad. In relation to the Chris Brown Drama, she said that she forgave him after a lot of thought and reestablishing her relationship with her father. Of course she was angry and hurt in the beginning, but she moved on and forgave him. I know there’s a lot of people out there who are still angry with Chris Brown, but it was a mistake. He wasn’t even let off that easily, he paid for it. It just got me thinking, if Rihanna was the one who actually endured the pain and suffering of the abuse and forgave him, why can’t the rest of the world? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and of course it’s not easy to forgive someone after something like that but he has to live with that for the rest of his life, and it happened so early in his career too. So yeah, I was shocked and upset initially, but I still listen to Chris Brown and I forgave him. But anyway, back to Rihanna. THAT’S MY GURL. & I have a new found love and respect for her.

PENTATONIX!

WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN? Yesterday was the best day of summer. Maybe even the best day of my life. I’m not even exaggerating. Started out driving on the freeway to universal city walk with some traffic and while we were listening to the radio. Somebody that I Used to Know, Starships, & We Are Young all came on the radio. IT WAS A SIGN THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE AN AMAZING NIGHT. So we finally got to Universal City Walk and tried to figure out where they were performing, and it was pretty easy to find it. So we went to the Candy Store to pass up some time and Jizelle and I heard Pentatonix from about 100 feet away singing “Starships” so we freaking booked it. Like, that was probably the fastest I’ve ran in a while. So we got to the stage and Pentatonix was on the stage sound checking, and of course I had to yell out “I love you!” I’m so extra, but as you will see being extra really helped me out yesterday. So me and Jizelle are just jamming while they sound check and once they’re done, we go meet up with everyone else and eat at Johnny Rockets. I got bacon cheese fries and they were amazing. But Christian found a fly in his water lol. Afterwards, it was about time to start lining up for the concert. It was about 6 and the concert didn’t start til 7. So there was just a DJ playing music for a little while and he was playing some good music. He even played the electric slide and the cupid shuffle. Ya know I was gettin’ turnt. And they had a camera that zoomed into people in the audience and they zoomed in on us a lot. Jizelle and I decided to go buy a Pentatonix t-shirt and CD before they ran out and while we were waiting in line AVI & KEVIN walked by us and we shook their hands and it was the greatest thing ever. Then about 2 minutes later, KIRSTIN MALDONALDO WALKS BY!!! We took pictures with her and she hugged me and ahh :’) After that we were all pumped up and went back to our spot in the crowd to get ready for the first group. So then it was 7 and the first group, The Backbeats, came on and I had never heard of them but they were in Season 2 of the Sing-Off. They were so gooood omg just wow. It was a group of 7 people and their harmonies were so tight. Then at 8, Pentatonix came on and I was jizzin’ my pants, y’all. They are amazing live. You have no freaking idea. It’s one thing to listen to them in the car or at home but LIVE. I CANNOT. BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. I took so many pictures and videos that my ipod ran out of space lol. In the middle of the show, Mitch shouted out to me! <3 :’) He was like “Hey that guy right there has been jumping up and down the whole time, he knows all the words, etc etc” and I was just like “IS THIS THE REAL LIFE? IS THIS JUST FANTASY?” And I shouted out that I loved him and that was that. When it was time for their last song, they were asking for requests and I was jumping up and down and being extra and yelling “End of Time.” & guess what they sang? :3 END OF TIME. OMG THEY LOVE ME. AHHHHHH. THEY HEARD MY CALLLLLL. So while they were singing I was singing along and gettin’ buck wild. So then the concert ended and I was so ecstatic and happy. We went in line to go get our CD’s signed but then the police ended up shutting it down cause they’re mean and so I just bought a backbeats CD since we were already waiting there. But while we were waiting, Jordan Pharoah from the Backbeats walked by and said hi to me and then he was like “Hey I saw you in the audience!” and then he pulled out his iphone and we have the same case guys. The black Gameboy Ipod/IPhone case. ahh. So after, we walked around City Walk for a little bit longer and headed to the parking lot. We get to the Elevator and I see the beatboxer, Kevin, and I scream “HEY!” in his face and wave like a lunatic. He just laughed and then me and the rest of my friends were all excited and we took pictures with him and yes. Then we get to the parking lot and as we are driving off we see Avi and Mitch and we all stopped and I hopped out of the car so fast you wouldn’t even believe me OMG. I think I’m obsessed with Mitch now like I can’t. He’s so tiny I just wanna put him in my pocket. Avi is a freaking beaaaast and if I can be half the bass that he is I will be happy :3 hehe So on the way home we put the Pentatonix CD in and then the Backbeats CD and we just sang along and got turnt. OMG YOU GUYS. MY FAVORITE GROUP EVER. AND I GOT TO MEET THEM. PENTATONIX KNOWS WHO I AM, GUYS~ I am too happy.

I just read one of the coolest comments on a youtube cover.

It was a cover of Rachel Berry singing “I Was Here” by Beyonce.

Anyway, people were commenting on it and saying it sucked and how it doesn’t sound like Beyonce. blah blah blah, but someone commented and said

You know what I don’t get? This is a cover and it is done the way the Glee writers want Rachel to sing it, yet people are saying it sucks and Beyonce (the original) is better. I thought a cover was your own interpretation. This is Rachel’s interpretation. Sounding the same as Beyonce would be boring and even then,Lea would get attacked. This is a really beautiful song and fits Rachel’s story so well.”

I thought that was really interesting. I’ve seen probably thousands of covers on Youtube and people are always getting hate on their videos about how they sucked or how they ruined the song. But it’s a COVER. It’s not supposed to sound the same. You should add your own style or flavor. You may not be the best singer, but it’s your cover. and ultimately, how YOU interpret the song you’re singing. So yeah, that’s all.
